The central lip is an important anatomic area of the face and can respond poorly to trauma or surgery. We often see patients who have undergone lip reduction procedures or skin cancer procedures and have ongoing issues related to their scarring. The above patient demonstrates the final results after lip laceration repair by Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian. The patient sustained a traumatic laceration of the upper lip extending through the vermilion of the lip and into the mucosa. Using a technique of layered closure followed by laser therapy, the scar is barely perceptible in the follow up photo.

Earlobe keloids can vary in terms of size and shape, often distorting the normal anatomy of the earlobe. This case demonstrates a dumbbell type earlobe keloid that had an anterior and posterior component adjoined by the piercing tract within the earlobe. The two sides of the earlobe keloid were surgicaly excised using local anesthesia and care was taken to reduce postoperative recurrence with topical application of Plato's Scar Serum, injection therapy, and laser modulation.
